Welcome! My years of teaching have come with their bumps and bruises as well as tons of joy and laughter. My hope for this blog is that through reading through my lessons, it'll save you from a few bumps and bruises of your own and add more hints of joy. Most of my blog entries are sequential, so please start at the bottom and work your way up! Happy reading!

Philosophy

I believe that every child has the right to a quality education irregardless of color, gender, or socio-economic status.

I believe that ALL children have the capacity to learn and reach proficiency.

I believe education is one of many means to freedom.

I believe that children will grow into the intellectual environment they are placed in.

I believe students are not blank slates. They come into the classroom with a wealth of knowledge, many strengths and advantages, and a lot to offer.

I believe that a proficient and effective teacher is a single variable that can make a significant difference in the life of a student.

I believe the role of the teacher is to provide guidance and facilitate learning.

I believe teaching is one of the most important professions in the world and the responsibilities of the teacher should be held in the highest regards and handled with the utmost care.

(This list by all means is not the end all be all for me. I am constantly learning and discovering what it means to be a teacher.)  :)
